  The Facts

For more than 650 people each year in Elkhart County, Faith Mission is their safe harbor. Since 1956 we have served and sheltered the homeless, hungry and hurting. A lost job, illness, accident or divorce was all it took to push them into the streets. We work to get them off of the streets and back on their feet. Lives are changed. Lives are rebuilt through faith, education and community.

At any given time we house as many as 112 residents at the Main Street location. We serve more than 125,000 meals annually to residents and walk-ins, distribute more than 1,000 articles of clothing each month and redistribute more than 25,000 meals each year in partnership with food pantries and other organizations.

In addition to providing meals and shelter, we provide spiritual sustenance. More than 16,000 people attend our chapel services each year. Working Hand-in-hand with Oaklawn, Family Services, Life Treatment Centers and many other community organizations, Faith Mission provides residents with the resources to face addiction problems as well as mental and physical health issues. We offer educational opportunities to get them back on the path to employment, self-sufficiency and a brighter future.

Feeding and housing the homeless is only the first step. But most importantly, we make it possible for each to gain heart, gain hope and gain a new start on life by delivering the Good News of Jesus Christ.
