What makes Virginia so special? Perhaps it’s her love for the Mission which she says is made up of “really nice people” who “help others a lot.” Or maybe it’s her own desire to help and the interest she takes in the people who come into the store.

“…people are hurting and just want to talk.”

Often, people will tell Virginia their stories. “Sometimes they’re hurting, and you just want to reach out and hug them because a lot of them really need a hug! Others, you just want to reach out and say, ‘Oh, Lord, protect them!’”

The Faith Mission Thrift Store is not the only place where Virginia spends her time helping others.

“The Lord is leading me to do other things,” she confides. Like cleaning for some of the “elderly” people in the high rise apartment where she lives.

“My heart goes out to them. A lot of their families just don’t come around … so I just feel the need to help out. I know the good Lord looks after me all the time. He took care of me and I’m really happy with Him.”
